Forest Order

Pursuant to the provisions of 16 U.S.C., Section 551, and in Title 36 C.F.R. Part 261 as listed below, to provide for visitor safety, I am prohibiting the following acts: 

LOCATION: The portions of National Forest System lands containing the JELLICO CREEK AND ROCK CREEK AREAS located along National Forest System Roads 492 and 137 on the Stearns Ranger District of the Daniel Boone National Forest. The area is further described in the attached map.

EFFECTIVE DATE: This Closure Order is in effect May 11, 2015 and continues until rescinded.

PROHIBITED ACTS:

  1. Camping within 300 feet of National Forest System Road 492 and National Forest System Road 137, except for designated campsites (36 CFR 261.58(e)). 

Pursuant to 36 C.F.R. 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:

  • Any Federal, State or Local Officer, or member of an organized rescue or firefighting force engaged in the performance of an official duty;
  • Any authorized person engaged in official administrative duties regarding National Forest Administration;
  • Persons with a permit specifically authorizing the otherwise prohibited act or omission.

These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 CFR Part 261, Subpart A.

Violations of the above prohibition set forth are punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual and $10,000 for an organization or imprisonment for not more than six (6) months or both. See 16 U.S.C. 551, 18 U.S.C. 3559 and 3571.
