Billy Creek Recreation Area

The camping area lies along a small stream, which provides a great spot to fish for sunfish in the small pools. 

Billy Creek Trail starts here and climbs to the top of Winding Stair Mountain.  The trail intersects the Ouachita National Recreation Trail, which travels east from Talimena State Park in Oklahoma to Pinnacle Mountain State Park in Arkansas for 225 miles.

General Information

This campground offers visitors an opportunity to enjoy the beauty and serenity of the Ouachita Mountains. 

Just 20 minutes away from the campground is the Talimena Scenic Drive, curving 54 miles along the crests of Winding Stair and Rich Mountains. The Drive offers scenic vistas, interpretive signs, historical sites, camping, picnicking, hiking, Queen Wilhelmina State Park, Visitor Information Stations, a Botanical Area, and Robert S. Kerr Arboretum and Nature Center. 

Open year round. No water/electric available.

Hunting and Fishing:  All state fishing regulations, fees and seasons apply to national forest lands. Regulations can be obtained from the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation, 1801 North Lincoln, Oklahoma City, OK 73105, 405-744-1039.

Directions

From Big Cedar, Oklahoma, drive west on State Highway 63 for 6 miles.  At the campground sign, turn right (north) and follow the signs for 3 miles.
