Pioneer is a large site composed of dispersed campgrounds located in the Globe Ranger District of Tonto National Forest. Set in the cool Pinal Mountains South of Pioneer Pass is the Bobtail Spring trail that leads to Pinal Peak along with the East Mountain Trail. These trails are fun for nature viewing, day hikes, and family outings.

Restrictions: Stay limit 14 days, trailers under 18', fire in designated areas only. There is no trash service, Pack It In, Pack It Out. Dispose of waste properly, leave what you find. Only one camp-unit is handicap accessible with 5%-10% slopes over compacted dirt.

General Information

Directions:

This site is 9 miles south of Globe. From Globe, follow paved Jess Hayes Road to the junction of Icehouse Canyon Road/Forest Road (FR) 112 and Sixshooter Canyon Road/Forest Road (FR) 222. Continue on FR 112 for 2 miles to the junction of FR 55 and FR 112. Stay to the left and continue following FR 112 (which soon becomes unpaved) for another 6 miles to the site.
