Explanation Notes on Organization and Content of Color Plate Format
Each slide is identified by the plate number and a sequence order sub-number (1 through 8) which denotes the place of that slide within the time-sequence for the plate. The time-sequence is formatted to run in two vertical columns with time progressing top to bottom, left column first and right column second. This arrangement provides the most continuous flow of viewing changes over time with the only break in flow occurring when moving from the bottom of the left column to the top of the right column.
Individual slides are identified by Study Area Number and transect number (top of slide). The red number at the top is the "succession year" (SY) number. Plate number followed by the within-plate sequence number appears at the bottom of each slide.
