Project Description:
Drift caused by wind and small droplets from ATV and backpack sprayers is important to understand, especially when spraying around riparian areas and sensitive foliage. The purpose of this field test is to evaluate several different spray nozzles and application methods for both backpack and ATV sprayers in order to determine the magnitude and pattern of spray drift. The goal is to use this test information to help validate the spray drift model AgDISP for ground application equipment such as ATVs and backpack sprayers. Testing will occur at MTDC using a small grid of Mylar and Kromekote cards, air samplers, and standard meteorological weather stations. Test analysis proposed to be performed by CH2M Hill.
Project Status:
A test procedure has been developed and is in review. The actual field test is scheduled for the summer of 2012 at MTDC.
