To save and use the Accident Investigation Guide (AIG) forms on your computer:
Double-click the My Documents icon on your desktop
or use your Windows Explorer File Manager program to select a location on
your computer where you want
to keep the
AIG forms.
Create a new folder for these documents on your hard drive (C:) by selecting File, New, Folder from
the menu at the top of your screen.
Replace the highlighted words New Folder with
a name of your choice, such as 2005_AIGforms.
If the title of the folder is not highlighted, right-click on
the new folder and select Rename to
change the default New
Folder name to another name. You can keep the forms here and
update them as needed.
Open the desired form from the Accident Investigation
Guide CD or click the MS Word link in your Internet
browser. The title bar on the top of the Microsoft Word
document window will
have Read-Only in
parentheses behind the file name.
Fill out the form using Microsoft Word.
You will not be allowed to Save the
form back to the CD or the Internet, but you will be able to select File, Save
As,
and choose the new folder you just created as the destination Save
In
folder—the location where you want to save this form on your computer.
Be sure to save your form
with a unique filename to prevent overwriting files. For example, if you
are filling out form aig1_02.doc, you may wish
to save it to your hard drive with today's date in the filename, such as aig1_02_07-25-05.doc.
