Above is a drawing illustrating the installation of a live cribwall on a stream bank. The 4'-5' cribwall is planted at the bank of a stream and buried with rock fill. The cribwall is buried to a depth of 2'-3' under the streambed and the top of the cribwall emerges above the streambed at a height of 3'-4'. Live branch cuttings are buried with the upper half of the cribwall, which is buried with compacted fill material. Geotextile fabric can be laid across the surface over the cribwall but is described as optional. At the surface vegetation grows and it is explained in the drawing that "existing bioengineering techniques" can be used in addition.
