Above is a drawing illustrating the installation of live fascines at a stream bank. The drawing shows two identical trenches dug out near a stream bank. One dug out right next to the stream and the other a short ways up slope. The trenches each have a live fascine bundle that takes up most of the space of the trench. Live stakes are laid at the base of the trench and are spaced 2'-3' apart. Dead stout stakes are also inserted through the fascine bundles and are spaced 2'-3' apart. The trenches are filled with moist soil backfill. Geotextile fabric can also be laid across the base of the trenches and the surface between the trenches but is described as optional. Seeding between trenches is also described as optional.
