Care of Seedlings in the Field

Transporting and Storing Tree Boxes

When transporting seedlings in the field:

  • Secure unopened boxes in canopied trucks or vans or in open pickup beds. Cover the boxes with white or reflective tarps. Do not expose boxes to wind or direct sunlight.

  • Keep boxes in shade. Cover boxes at all times to keep them cool using reflective tarps with the shiny side facing the sun. Separate stacked boxes of seedlings to provide free air movement between boxes. Promptly reseal punctured or torn containers.
