Currently, the showers/flush toilet building are not operable at Cobb Ridge Campground. The water has been shut off to them. The vault toiles are located near sites 28 and Group Site 2. We are working on the problem. Sorry for any inconvenience.
The following sections of the Ozark Trail (44 miles) that were so terribly affected by trees blow down by the May 8, 2009 windstorm are now cleared of fallen trees;
Trace Creek -32 Hwy to A Hwy.
Middle Fork - 32 Hwy to J Hwy.
Karkaghne - J Hwy to 72 Hwy.
Blair Creek - 72 Hwy to Mark Twain National Forest Boundary.
However, these sections of trails still have deep holes in the tread left from tree root balls that blew over, and Ozark Trail markers have not been repaired yet. Mountain biking and horse riding on these sections of trail is not recommended due to the large holes in the tread.
The Forest Service will be making repairs on the tread on these sections over the next year (or more). It will take some time.
The spillway and portions of the trail and shoreline adjacent to Noblett Lake have been temporarily closed. Closed areas are indicated by a gate on FR 857, and red carsonite posts along the trail and shoreline. These restrictions are necessary for public safety and to protect natural resources.Click here for more info and a map of the area.
have been closed to visitors due to a threat to bat populations. White-nose syndrome or WNS, is killing bats of several species, and may be at least partially spread through human visitation to caves. If you plan to visit caves off the Mark Twain National Forest, please read the information on WNS at this website."
