We update the conditions report weekly (approximately).
If you don't see an update for a particular week, it probably means that conditions haven't changed significantly.

General Updates and Conditions

Our office hours are 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Local weather for McKenzie River Travel Corridor near the Ranger Station.
A river hazard has been reported on the McKenzie River 500 yards below Frissell Boat Launch. Watch out for a large tree spanning the river just below the the Frissell Bridge.
A river hazard has been reported on the McKenzie River .25 miles below Paradise Boat Launch. Watch for logs piled up on an old bridge pylon in the middle of the river. High water hides the obstruction. The far left channel was open as of 5/19/2014 at 2:00 p.m.
The top pool at Terwilliger Hot Springs is under closure order for repair due to hazardous slumping.

Watch for hazards, construction and closures on these Forest Service roads. Construction completion dates are approximate.

Highway 242 ( Old McKenzie Highway ) is currently closed for the winter.
Forest Road 19 ( Aufderhiede Drive):open as far as mile marker 20 from the Middle Fork side. Use caution, this road is not maintained for winter travel
Forest Road 408 ( Lingascher RD ) Closed due to a washed out culvert.
Forest Road 15 ( Blue River Reservoir RD) Construction Rd 15 and spur roads off of Rd 15 up to Rd 1513.
Forest Road 1993 mile post 3.8: A rock slide has closed the road to vehicle traffic.
Forest Road 2618: Closed 12 miles up due to land slide and culvert damage.
Forest Road 2643 (Foley Ridge Road) Logging activity, cutting on spur road 480 signs are posted expects some delays.
Foreest Road 2645 (Deer Cr Rd) Logging activity up to FS RD 15.

Campgrounds & Day Use Sites

Campgrounds in open status: Cougar Crossing ( FS Road 19); Look Out ( Blue River Reservoir); Trail Bridge ( Highway 126); Alder Springs, Scott Lake and Lost Lake are open, but snow dependent.
Terwilliger Hot Springs: Fees at Terwilliger Hot Springs are $6 per person for a day pass (can pay onsite) and $60 for an annual pass. Fee area includes hot springs, trail, lagoon, and parking.

Obsidian Limited Entry Area Permits: Advance reservations are now available only through the National Recreation Reservation System (NRRS) at www.recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777. Visit our Obsidian Limited Entry Permit Page for more information.
In addition to Forest Service offices, the Northwest Forest Pass ( $5.00 daily and $30.00 annually) can be purchased at all area Bi-Mart Stores and REI Sporting Goods stores. The NW Forest Pass may also be purchased through local vendors: Mather's Market in Cedar Flat near Springfield; Leaburg Country Store; Meyer's General Store in Blue River; Blue Sky Market ( formerly Harbick's Country Store) in Rainbow and McKenzie Bridge General Store in McKenzie Bridge.
