Recreation Permits

Central Cascade Wilderness Permits

Permits are required June 15 - Oct. 15. Permits are available on Recreation.gov either online, via the Recreation.gov app or by calling their call center at 1-877-444-6777 or TDD 877-833-6777. Permits are not available at Forest Service offices.

Wilderness Permits (Free & Self-Issued)

Unless a Central Cascade Wilderness Permit is required, all other visitors who enter Willamette National Forest wilderness areas will need a wilderness self-issue permit June 15 - Oct. 15. Self-issue permits are free and available at wilderness trailheads.

Off Highway Vehicle (OHV) Permits

An OHV permit issued by the State of Oregon is required to operate on public land. 

Sno-Park Permits

Sno-Park permits are required in designated Sno-Parks from November 1 – April 30.

Other Permits

Firewood Permits

Free personal-use firewood permits are available with a limit of 6 cords per household per year. 

Mushroom Permits

No permit or fee is required for quantities less than one gallon (per person, per day) unless you are collecting matsutakes. If collecting more than a gallon, a permit is required.

Christmas Tree Permits

Christmas tree permits are available every holiday season online at Recreation.gov.

Special Use Permits
