Bighorn National Forest firewood permits are available for purchase through a new online E-Permit system, eliminating the need to travel to a Forest Service office. A link can be found on the forest’s website under Forest Products Industry (non Timber), https://www.fs.usda.gov/r02/bighorn/forest-products-industry.
“The Forest Service is working to make it easier to purchase firewood permits,” said Andrew Johnson, Bighorn Forest Supervisor. “The online purchase can be done on any web connected device from the comfort of your own home.”
This service provides flexibility and convenience to forest users. To purchase a firewood permit or to learn more about permits and gathering firewood online visit https://epermits.fs2c.usda.gov/. Traditional firewood permits are still available to purchase at local Forest Service offices, or participating vendors.
The Forest Service will continue to refine and improve the quality of the online permit system and add additional special forest product permits in the future. For more information about the firewood program on the Bighorn National Forest, please contact Matt Riederer at 307-674-2600 or matthew.riederer@usda.gov.
