Sapphire Point Overlook Trail and Parking closed June 2-20 for renovations

Closure is necessary for public safety

DILLON, Colo. (May 22, 2025) – The popular Sapphire Point Overlook trail and parking area above Dillon Reservoir will be closed June 2-20 for public safety while much needed maintenance is completed.

Crews will renovate the parking lot, including maintenance, adding event parking spaces, and updating traffic flow entering the parking area from Swan Mountain Road. The recreation path will remain open; however, users should use caution.

Sapphire Point Overlook is the most-reserved recreation site on the Dillon Ranger District, with 625 reservations in the last year alone. It is particularly popular for small weddings, with multiple bookings common on a single day.

Sapphire Point is a multi-use site with a half-mile loop trail and two overlook sites. It remains open to the general public during event reservations.
