Buckeye Trailhead

The Buckeye Trailhead is co-located with the Buckeye Campground on Buckeye Creek Road (Forest Road 32160) near Bridgeport, California. This trailhead provides access to two non-motorized trails: Buckeye Canyon Trail (22068) and Eagle Creek Trail (22060). The Buckeye Trailhead also serves and an important access point to the Hoover Wilderness. 

General Information

Open 24 hours/day

  • Overnight use within the Hoover Wilderness requires a wilderness permit year-round. Please see Recreation.gov for information on obtaining a permit and associated fees.
  • A free California Camp Fire Permit issued by CalFire is required for campfire, barbecue, and portable stove use.
  • Dogs must be on a leash at the trailhead.

Directions

Follow Highway 395 south from Bridgeport, turn left and travel approximately seven miles on Twin Lakes Road. Turn right on Buckeye Road at Doc and Al 's Resort and travel about 3 miles. Turn left at fork and travel another mile to campground.
