Summit Trail

The Summit Trail is a 27.8 mile long non-motorized trail that accesses the Santa Rosa-Paradise Peak Wilderness near Winnemucca, Nevada. It is the longest route through this wilderness. Starting from the northwest side of the wilderness, the Summit Trail begins along Rebel Creek following the creek east across the top of the Santa-Rosa Paradise Peak Wilderness before exiting the wilderness near Big Cottonwood Creek. From there, the trail turns south passing multiple creeks before reentering the Santa Rosa-Paradise Peak Wilderness near the South Fork Hanson Creek. From here the trail continues south before turning west along Buffalo Creek and exiting the wilderness near the trail end in Buffalo Canyon.

Getting There

Trailhead/Starting Points

The two primary access points for the Summit Trail are located on the west side of the Santa Rosa-Paradise Peak Wilderness off US Highway 95 at Rebel Creek and Buffalo Canyon.
