Medicine Lake

Medicine Lake is a small lake located 350 yards off Pack Creek-La Sal Pass Road #073 on Medicine Lake Road #238.  Occasionally during the wet seasons, there is a second small lake here.  The Department of Wildlife Resources of Utah (DWR) stocks this reservoir with Rainbow Trout.

Directions

Easiest route: From Moab, head south on US 191 and travel 22 miles. Turn left at the Hwy 46 junction to the town of La Sal. Drive another 13 miles and take a left on to the Upper Two Mile graveled road. After 2 miles make another left turn for the La Sal Pass Road and drive until you see the sign for Medicine Lake off to the left (FS Rd 238). This road does has a stream crossing but is suitable for most higher clearance two-wheel-drive vehicles. The road can be impassable in rain and is not plowed in winter. 

Alternative route: From Moab, head south on US191 and travel approximately 7.8 miles. Turn left at the signs for the La Sal Mountain Loop Rd/ Ken's Lake and travel 0.6 miles. Turn right onto La Sal Mountain Loop Rd/Spanish Valley Dr. and travel 4.8 miles. Turn right onto Forest Road #073 Pack Creek-La Sal Pass and travel 5.0 miles. Road turns slighty left and becomes La Sal Pass Rd, travel 7.2 miles.  Turn right onto Forest Road #238 Medicine Lake and continue 350 yards to Medicine Lakes. This route requires a high clearance 4 wheel drive vehicle. The La Sal Pass Road on the west side is a very rough, narrow road not recommended for full size vehicles.
