Nizhoni Campground

Nizhoni Campground is located approximately 12 miles north of Blanding, Utah at the foot of the Abajo mountains at an elevation of 7,800 feet. Towering ponderosa pines forest the site, offering partial shade and gambel oaks and sagebrush dot the landscape. Summer temperatures range from 80-90 degrees during the day and 55-65 degrees at night. Mule deer, wild turkeys, Abert's squirrels, and the occasional black bear may be seen in the area. Popular activities include biking, hiking, wildlife viewing, and touring the mountains.

There are 21 single sites and two group areas that can accomodate up to 50 campers each.

Nizhoni Campground sits in the Manti-LaSal National Forest in southeast Utah, at the foot of the Abajo Mountains.  Sites can be booked at Recreation.gov through the end of September.

Directions

From Blanding,Utah, travel north on Highway 191 approximately 2 miles. Turn left on County Road 2191 and go 3/4 mile to stop sign. Turn right on Forest Road 079 and continue approximately 10 miles to the campground on the right side of the road.
