Second Water Trail

The Second Water Trail #5407 is 3.3 miles long. It begins at Forest Road #53080 and ends at Castle Valley Ridge Trail #5068. The trail begins above Second Water Canyon Trailhead, just west of Forest Road #50011, following Second Water Canyon and then climbs up a series of switchbacks to Lone Pine Tree Ridge before connecting at the Castle Valley Ridge Trail. The trail provides some breath taking views into Castle Valley and the desert country of southeastern Utah beyond. It climbs 1,827 feet from 7,736 feet in elevation to 9,563 feet. Spruce, douglas-fir, and aspen in the canyon provide shade for the lower 2.5 miles. Vegetation on the ridge top consists mostly of high elevation grass meadows.
