Conservation Education

Conservation Education helps people of all ages to understand, appreciate, and conserve our country’s natural resources. State and Private Forestry Conservation Education assistance enhances existing state and local programs and strengthens partnerships between education organizations and natural resource managers. Grants are provided to the State Forester to support state Conservation Education programs and partners. A focus on children and educators (pre-kindergarten through 12th grade) in classroom and informal settings, including outdoors, is encouraged.

Key Outcomes

  • Increased awareness, knowledge, and appreciation of natural resources and ecosystems.
  • Strengthened connections between kids and nature through meaningful outdoor experiences.
  • Better understanding of natural resource issues in the news.
  • Increased critical thinking skills that aid in recognizing the complexity of natural resource issues.

STEM Education

Natural Inquirer is a free science education journal that familiarizes middle and high school students with the scientific method. It shares new and interesting research with students through the format of scientific journal articles and includes hands-on activities to reinforce concepts described in the articles.
