Recreation Region: Hume Lake Ranger District

Fir Group Campground

Located 14 miles SE of Grant Grove via Generals Highway. This campground sits amidst pines at 6,400 ft elevation. It is approximately 18 miles from Hume Lake and can accommodate up to 100 people.

Natural Features: The Sequoia National Forest is located at the southern end of the Sierra Nevada in central California. The forest is divided into three districts that comprise 1.1 million acres. The Hume Lake Ranger District, in which this campground is located, has elevations range from about 1,000 along the Kings River near Pine Flat Reservoir and to 11,000 feet, the peak of Mt Harrington. This landscape is home to 13 Sequoia Groves and the majestic Kings Canyon.

Recreation: Several trails pass nearby, offering excellent hiking, and streams along the way provide trout fishing. At Lake Hume visitors enjoy swimming, non-motorized boating, fishing and hiking. The trails in the district are open to hikers, horses and bikes (however, bikes are not permitted in wilderness areas).

Facilities: The campground accommodates up to 100 people and has back-in spaces for 35 vehicles. Vault toilets, drinking water, group fire pit, and food storage lockers are provided.
