Headquarters Campground

Headquarters Campground is 4 miles north from Kernville via Mountain Hwy 99 along the North Fork of the Kern River. Paved access roads. 44 individual family units including 1 accessible family unit. Trailers up to 27 feet; toilets, and water available.

General Information

ExplorUS
All developed campground areas on the Forest operate under a concessionaire permit with ExplorUS. For additional information, please visit ExplorUS - Hospitality Management (goexplorus.com) or call their home office at 559-745-4209.

Open all year around

10pm - 6am (Quiet hours)

No camping or campfires outside designated campsites. Campfire permits are required for campfires, barbeques, and camp stoves. Permits are available at your local Ranger Station or online at preventwildfireca.org

Camping and campfires within 25 feet of the water's edge is prohibited due to the Wild and Scenic Designation. Glass containers prohibited.

Depending on fire restrictions and fire danger, campfires may be prohibited for camping.

Overnight Use:
Single Site: $34 per night
Yurt: $100 per night

Campsite fees range from $34/night for single unit, $8/night for extra vehicle. Yurts - $106.00 Maximum vehicle length 27’

6' leash requirements.

Directions

Off of Highway 99 in Bakersfield, take Highway 178 East, to Lake IsabellaFrom Lake Isabella take Highway 155 around the west side of the lake tothetown of Kernville. From Kernville go north on Sierra Way (Mountain 99) 4miles to the campground.
