Lewis Camp Trailhead

One vault toilet. Horse truck and trailer area only by the corrals. All other cars should be parked outside this area. No water. No bear boxes. 

This trailhead is 8 miles north of Quaking Aspen. 

33E01 The Lewis Camp trail is 21.8 miles long. It begins at 31E14 and ends at Forest Boundary. Travels east to Trout Meadow, then north to Kern Ranger Station in Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks. Offers scenic views of Sierra, crosses the Little Kern River on a suspension bridge, then to Trout Meadow Ranger Station, Willow Meadow, and north to the Big Kern River, up to the Little and Big Kern Lakes. Trail continues on to the Kern Ranger Station Bridge, crossing the Big Kern into the Inyo National Forest at the east end of the trail. Fishing is available in the Little and Big Kern River and the Little Kern Lake.  The trail is open for the following uses: Hiking and Horseback Riding. Due to recent fires and flooding, the trail may have washouts, downed trees, and intermittently disappear.

​ALERT:  Incidence of human-bear conflicts have been occurring in this area during the 2024 season. Bears that successfully obtain human food can become easily habituated.  Please help protect yourself, other visitors, and bears by using bear resistant food storage canisters while visiting the area

Golden Trout Wilderness Passes are required for overnight stays. The Lewis Camp Trailhead is not in the wilderness but is close to the boundary.

Vehicles including bicycles are prohibited in the Golden Trout Wilderness.

No fees are required for this site

6-foot leash Required. Dogs are allowed in the Sequoia National Forest, but are not allowed in the Sequoia National Park.
