McCloud Reservoir Boat Ramp

The Boat Ramp Facility at the McCloud Reservoir offers public access to the lake that is managed by PG&E. Facilities include parking for vehicles with trailers, two picnic tables, garbage pick-up, and a vault toilet. Day use only.  Features: The McCloud Reservoir/McCloud Dam is the division between the Upper McCloud River and the Lower McCloud River. Mud Creek, which originates from the Konwakiton Glacier on Mt. Shasta, flows into the upper section of the river and then into the lake. It is known for its silt/sand and ash-laden waters. This silt remains suspended in the calmer lake water, refracting the color of the sky and giving the lake a vivid turquoise hue, similar to other glacier-fed lakes.

Traditionally known to locals as the McCloud Reservoir, or the Res, it is a popular fishery. Scenic views include forests, brilliant blue-green waters, Mt. Shasta, Bald Eagles, Osprey, Bear, Deer, and otters.  Water skiing or jet skiing on the lake should be conducted with courtesy to other recreationists and in the southern or downstream part of the reservoir after the big island.  Speed in all coves should be no more than 5 mph. DO NOT park in the red striped area near the ramp, it is for boat launching only.  Large parking slots are intended for vehicles with boat trailers only, not passenger or trailer-less vehicles.

It is against the rules to either fish from, use as a base to swim or jump from, nor suntan or picnic on the boat dock at any time.  It is for the loading and unloading of boat passengers and equipment only.  Do not clog up the area when others are trying to load or unload.

Keep the ramp clear for boaters backing trailers, again the red slashed area is a NO PARKING zone.
