  • 2025 Shasta-Trinity National Forest Fire Restrictions

    A Forest Order has been made to implement fire restrictions on the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. The purpose of fire restrictions is to reduce the risk of human-caused fires on National Forest System lands and the associated injuries, damages, and costs.

  • Gateway Trails closure order

  • Star City Road Closure

    Portions of Star City Road: FS Roads No. 38N04Y is closed due to public safety on the McCloud Ranger District.

    Portions of AH-DI-NA is closed to protect endangered species in this area on the Shasta Lake Ranger District.

  • Road Closure on Wild Mad Road

    A portion of Wild Mad Road near the community of Payne, CA, in Trinity County has been closed due to the failure of a culvert beneath the roadway. The closure is necessary due to safety concerns for the public.

  • Mount Shasta Plantation Area Camping and Fire Restrictions

    Portions of the Mount Shasta Wilderness are restricted from camping and having a campfire (including fire stove) due to public safety and concern over local resources on federal land on the Mount Shasta Ranger District, and nearby private land.

  • Mud and Ash Creek Area and Road Closure

    Portions of Mud and Ash Creek: FS Roads 40N56, 41N29, 41N17, 41N17A, and 41N31 are closed to the Mount Shasta Wilderness are closed due to public safety on the Mount Shasta Ranger District.

  • Madrone Campground Closure

    Madrone Campground on the Shasta Lake Ranger District is closed to provide for public safety.

  • Mt. Shasta Wilderness Area Restrictions

    Prior to entering the Mt. Shasta Wilderness Area review the permit requirements and restrictions for pack stock, waste management, firearms use, campfires, and camping limits. The Mt. Shasta Wilderness Area is in both the Mount Shasta and McCloud Ranger Districts.

  • Upper Ski Bowl Park Lot Restriction

    Parking at the Upper Ski Bowl on the Mount Shasta Ranger District is prohibited daily from 12:00am to 6:00am.

  • Sugarloaf Creek Road (FS 35N08) Closure

    A portion of Sugarloaf Creek Rd (Forest Road No. 35N08) is closed along Backbone Ridge east to Forest Road 35N08E just east of Sugarloaf Creek crossing on Shasta Lake.

  • Slate Creek Road Closure (FS 36N20)

    Slate Creek Road (Forest Road 36N20) is closed on the Mount Shasta Ranger District due to geologic instability causing the road to subside. The road is impassable for motor vehicles.

  • Silverthorn Road (FS Road 33N8) Closure

    Portions of Silverthorn Road (FS Road 33N58) and Forest Road 33N85D along the south shore of Shasta Lake are closed due to geological instability which caused the road to subside and is impassable to motor vehicles on the Shasta Lake Ranger District.

  • Panther Basin and Panther Meadows Restrictions

    Due to high use parking, camping, campfire, entering bodies of water, public nudity, and other restrictions are in place in the Panther Basin and Panther Meadows to protect the natural resources on the Mount Shasta Ranger District. All dogs must be leashed. Click on the alert for full list.

  • Twin Arrows Area Closure

    National Forest system lands on the Mount Shasta Ranger District along South Fork Road (FS Road 40N26) are closed to prevent the spread of the forest pathogen (Phytophthora lateralis) which affects Port Orford Cedar. Please do not stop or pull off the road surface when driving through this section.

  • McCloud River Loop Dispersed Camping Restrictions

    Dispersed camping is prohibited on National Forest System lands south of the Volcanic Legacy Scenic Byway (State Route 89) to the McCloud River from Fowlers Campground to Nitwit Undeveloped Camping Area on the McCloud Ranger District.

  • Forest-Wide Camping Stay Limits
