Meadow Knolls Group Camp

Meadow Knolls Group Campground is located on Meadow Lake.  This is a beautiful high elevation lake at 7500 feet.  Enjoy the views  while boating, swimming or riding the nearby OHV trails. It is a popular spot for off-highway vehicle enthusiasts. Two group sites with space for 25 people each are provided.  There are no hookups or showers at this campground.

General Information

Elevation: 7,500', Sites: 2-25 person sites.  Each August, the base camp for the Sierra Trek 4x4 events are located at Meadow Lake. At 7,400 feet, it is one of the highest elevation lakes available by motor vehicle on the Forest. High clearance vehicles recommended.  Access to Meadow Lake during snow season is via over-snow vehicles only.
 

Informal boat launch; handicapped accessible.

Directions

From Truckee:  Travel north on Hwy 89 for 17 miles to Forest Service road 07. Turn left and travel west to the Meadow Lake turnoff. Turn left on Forest Service road 86 which becomes Nevada County Road 843 traveling south for approximately 10 miles. Most of the route is paved, but the last few miles are unpaved and becomes very rough.

 From Sierraville: Travel south on Hwy 89 for 11 miles to Forest Road 7.  Turn right and travel west to the Meadow Lake turnoff.  Turn left on Forest Road 86 which becomes Nevada County Road 843 traveling south for approximately 10 miles. Most of the route is paved, but the last few miles are unpaved and becomes very rough.
