Prosser Family Campground

Prosser Family Campground is located on the west shore above Prosser Reservoir, 10 minutes north of Truckee, Calif. The campground is situated within walking distance of the western shore of the reservoir. The campground offers single-family campsites. A forest of Jeffrey pine and fir trees shade the area, while sagebrush dots the forest floor in surrounding areas. Some sites have filtered views of the reservoir and the surrounding mountains can be seen through the trees. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and campfire ring. Accessible vault toilets and drinking water are provided. Firewood available at the campground at the host site.

The surrounding area offers many hiking, biking, horseback riding and off-road vehicle trails.Very popular Commemorative Overland Emigrant bike riding/hiking trail can be accessed by riding from campground.Prosser Reservoir is a popular location for canoeing, paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming and fishing. Power boating is allowed, but a 10-mph speed limit is enforced. A boat ramp is located less than a mile from the campground at Prosser Ranch Group Campground. Boat trailer parking available at ramp.

Prosser OHV staging area is approximately two miles west, across Highway 89. Access to Prosser Hill Motorcycle trail, and Prosser Hill and Sagehen Hills OHV trail system. OHV Trail Access: Non-street legal OHVs must be trailered from the campground to the OHV trails.

No camping or campfires allowed outside of developed campgrounds.

Directions:  From Truckee take Highway 89 North approximately four miles north of I-80. Look for Prosser Recreation Area sign on the right. Take a right onto paved road and campground will be on the left in approximately 1.5 miles.

Additional Vehicle Fee: $5 per vehicle per night
