Little Malheur Trail #366

This 7.3 mile trail is within Monument Rock Wilderness. It starts out along Elk Flat Creek and then follows along the Little Malheur River through a wildfire area.

Getting There

Directions

North Little Malheur Trailhead: From Prairie City, OR., turn onto South Main Street, follow to the junction with Bridge Street. Turn left onto Bridge Street, follow past the cemetary, the road then becomes County Road 62. Follow County Road 62 for about 8.4 miles to the junction with Forest Road 13, turn left onto Forest Road 13. Follow Forest Road 13 approximately 9 miles to the junction with Forest Road 1370. Turn onto Forest Road 1370 follow for approximately 3 miles to the Little Malheur River Trailhead.

South Little Malheur Trailhead: From Prairie City, OR., turn onto South Main Street to the junction with Bridge Street. Turn left onto Bridge Street, follow Bridge Street past the cemetary the road then becomes County Road 62. Follow County Road 62 for about 8.4 miles the junction with Forest Road 13. Then turn left onto Forest Road 13 and travel approximately 16 miles, to Short Creek Guard Station and the junction with Forest Road 16 turn left onto Forest Road 16 and travel approximately 11 miles. Turn north onto Forest Service road 1672, this becomes Forest Service Road 457. The south trailhead is at the end of the 457 road in about 3.8 miles. (Latitude: 44.25002, Longitude: -118.310364)
