Wilderness Self-Issue Permit required if enter Opal Creek Wilderness for both day use and overnight stays from June 15 through October 15. Free permits are self-issued at the trailhead.

Directions
From Detroit, Oregon, travel west on Highway 22 just across the Breitenbush River Bridge, turn right onto French Creek Road (Forest Road 2233) and travel for 4 miles to Forest Road 2207. Veer right onto Forest Road 2207, travel for 4 miles. Trailhead is on right.
