American Electric Power (AEP) proposes to cross approximately 3.7 miles of National Forest land as part of the AEP Grayson County Broadband Project and a special use permit is needed for access, operations, and maintenance.

The proposed underground fiber will be installed for approximately 3.7 miles along the east shoulder of Route 21 into Wythe County and stops approximately 0.6 miles south of the intersection with Lanter Road (Route 773).
