Newman Lake Recreation Area

The Newman Lake Recreation Area features a picnic area, swim beach and a boat landing on 90 acre Newman Lake

There is a large picnic area with a designated swim beach located on the east side of the lake.  It is accessible with paved trails around the picnic area, pedestal grills, water and vault toilets.

The boat landing is located on the south end of the lake with plenty of parking.  It provides access to Newman Lake that is great for panfish and bass.  The lake is a motorized lake, however, it very popular for kayaks and canoes. 

This is a great place to bring the family and enjoy the beach.

General Information

Quiet hours are from 10 pm to 6 am.

Restrictions for all National Forest System lands can be found by visiting Title 36 Code of Federal Regulations 261. The Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest specific restrictions can be found on the Orders of the Forest Supervisor page.

Day Use:
$5 per vehicle per day
$30 per annual

There is a $5 day use pass for this recreation site. The Forest also has an annual pass available for $30. Learn more about passes.

The USDA Forest Service honors all four Interagency Recreation Passes that may be applied at National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation and U.S. Fish and Wildlife sites charging recreation use fees.

  • Pets must always be restrained or on a leash while in developed recreation areas.
  • Pets (except guide dogs) are not allowed in swimming areas.

Directions

Sailor Lake Campground is located approximately 11 miles southeast of Fifield. Follow State Highway 70 east from Fifield and turn right (south) on Forest Road 139 for 3 miles.
