    Storm Update June 24, 2025:

    Chippewa National Forest staff continue work on clearing roads, campgrounds, trails and assessing damage from the June 21, 2025, storm.     

    Bimijiwan campground

    Bimijiwan campground is temporarily closed because of significant storm damage. The closure is meant for visitor safety and allows for continued assessment and removal of hazard trees and debris in the impacted area. 

    Full refunds will be provided to reservation holders affected by this closure. Updates will be provided on the campground as work progresses this week. The anticipated reopening timeline will be announced as soon as possible. All other Chippewa National Forest campgrounds remain open for the 2025 season. 

    Reporting Hazard Trees

    Safety is stressed for all visitors to the Forest. Not all potential hazards and tree problems will be obvious. Survey areas, assess safety and ensure you are clear of any hanging limbs overhead. Not all roads have been assessed on the Forest. If you come across roads, trails or dispersed camping areas that have down, and/or hazardous trees please report to our office by calling 218-335-8600 or email location to: sm.fs.chipnfpublic@usda.gov
