Ozark Trail - Blair Creek Section

This trail section originates near the north edge of Shannon county at the junction of MO Hwy P and 72. It meanders through mature oak-pine forest approximately 8 miles to the southern boundary of the Salem ranger district. It continues on to the south across private lands over use easements to connect to the Ozark National Scenic Riverways administered by the Park Service.

General Information

Camping

Dispersed camping is allowed along the trail on National Forest System lands. There are no toilets, no structures, no trash cans, no treated water, and no fire grates available.

Trail Conditions

  • Hiking, Biking and Horseback riding is permitted.
    • Horseback riding limited to public land.
  • No motorized vehicles are permitted on any section of the Ozark Trail.
  • Camp at least 100 feet from the trail, treat all water used, bury human waste and pack out all trash

This trailhead provides access to the Karkaghne section (going north) and the Blair Creek Section (heading south).

Directions

From Bunker MO, go 4 miles south on MO Hwy 72 to trailhead located at junction of 72 and MO Hwy P. Blair creek trail runs south from there.

The Ozark Trail is 230-miles between Onondaga Cave State Park and the western edge of the Mark Twain National Forest. The trail is multi-use for hiking/backpacking, biking and equestrians in 13 sections, all of which are on the Mark Twain National Forest.
