Notice to Hunters

Hunting activities are regulated by the Idaho Department of Fish and Game.  For licenses, regulations and detailed game unit information, visit http://fishandgame.idaho.gov/public/hunt/.

 

Driving off roads for big game retrieval is not permitted - if you are unsure of road use, please contact the Ranger Districtor consult the 2014 Motor Vehicle Use Map page.

Be aware of shooting regulations within the Forest. Shooting is prohibited within 150 yards of a building, campsite, developed recreation site or occupied area; or across or on a road or body of water; or in any manner or place where a person or property is exposed to injury or damage. Title 36 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 261.10(d)

Dispersed camping is allowed, but certain regulations apply – leaving motor homes, tents or trailers at the same campsite for longer than 14 days during any 28-day period is prohibited by Special Order. Camping equipment or vehicles must not block a trail, gate or road.  CFR 261.10(f). 

 Portable tree stands are permitted as long as they are not affixed and do not cause resource damage - i.e., cutting limbs, placing nails or bolts into trees is prohibited. Tree stands left unoccupied for an extended period of time is also prohibited.

There is no specific regulation regarding game camerasHowever, doing so is at your own risk of the camera being stolen or damaged.

Please respect private property while hunting on public lands.

Please note that hunting is not permitted in designated campgrounds or developed recreation areas.  The Big Game Hunting page lists campgrounds that hunters often use for camping during hunting seasons.
