Water Resources

The watershed program’s mission is to protect, conserve, and restore watersheds on the forest. One of the two founding principles of the Forest Service is the provision of clean, abundant water. Your National Forests and Grasslands are the largest source of fresh water in the U.S. and are the largest source of municipal water supply in the nation, serving over 60 million people in 3,400 communities throughout 33 States.
