The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) installs, operates, and maintains an extensive, automated system to collect snowpack and related climatic data in the Western United States called SNOTEL (for SNOwpack TELemetry). The following survey sites are located in Lincoln County, MT.

Weed Free Hay

The Forest Service requires all hay, straw, or mulch used on National Forest System lands in Montana and Idaho to be certified as noxious weed-free.  This requirement will affect persons who use pack and saddle stock, outfitters, ranchers with grazing permits, ski areas and certain contractors.
