During the fire season conditions in the forest can change quickly. Stay informed on the latest wildfire locations and closures before you leave for the woods using the following links and websites.

Forest Incidents

The Kootenai Interagency Dispatch Center (KDC) maintains a roster of open incidents on the Forest, including prescribed burn and wildfire events

National Interagency Fire Center

National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC) posts a new Situation Report every day. This is a national report that summarizes information on current large fires, gives an outlook for the day, provides the total number of fires and acreage burned, as well as the current number of committed resources

Montana Fire Restrictions & Fire Information

The Montana DNRC provides information regarding wildfire incidents in the State of Montana.  A summary dashboard and interactive map is available for viewing

Fireworks are Prohibited on Forest Service Lands!

Remember FIREWORKS are Prohibited on ALL National Forest System lands, every day, year-round!

Forest Closures

The Kootenai implements closure orders on the Forest due to a variety of factors, including wildfire events.  Areas or roads and rails may be temporarily closed due to fire danger.  Use the following link to view active closure orders.
