Film Permits

National forests are popular locations for the commercial filming and still photography industries. Many motion pictures, television series and commercials have been filmed on the national forests of Arizona and New Mexico.

The Cibola National Forest's Sandia Ranger District, will not accept filming proposals during certain times of the year during peak visitor times, specifically:

  • Immediately before, during and immediately after Federal holidays (New Year’s Day; Martin Luther King Jr. Day; Presidents Day; Memorial Day; Fourth of July; Labor Day; Columbus Day; Veteran’s Day; Thanksgiving and Christmas)
  • Immediately before, during and immediately after the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta scheduled during the first two weekends of October. Check their website for exact dates. http://balloonfiesta.com/
