The only other Federal agency that we are aware of that is making extensive use of the ike is the Department of the Army. The civilian (Corps of Engineers) and military components of the Department have been using the ike since it came on the market.
Corps of Engineers usage. Since the product became available, the Corps of Engineers has been a prominent customer of the ike. In 2005 the Corps' Engineer Research Development Center (ERDC) prepared a report that identified the benefits and advantages of using the ike in inventorying and monitoring on Department of Defense installations (see ERDC Report). ERDC also provides product information on its webpage under the category of "Information Technology" for the benefit of its Partners (see ERDC ike info).
Military use. The US Army is such an active customer of the ike that Surveylab has, on occasion, developed separate brochures of the ike to market to the military (see: Mobile Mapping brochure). In fact, the color of the case of later models of ike, (304 and later) were changed to a desert sand color (from bright orange) in deference to its military customers.
(Note: the New Zealand Army is also an active customer of the ike [see: NZ Army News - April 2006 article].)
