GUNNISON NATIONAL FOREST 

GUNNISON RANGER DISTRICT 

Pursuant to 16 USC § 551 and 36 CFR § 261.50(b), the following acts are prohibited on sections of National Forest System Road (NFSR) 826.1C, otherwise known as Irwin Lodge Road (the “Restricted Road”) on the Gunnison Ranger Districts of the Gunnison National Forest, Gunnison County, Colorado, as depicted on the attached map hereby incorporated into this Order as Exhibit A. 

The purpose of this Order is to provide for public health and safety and to avoid visitor conflicts. 

PROHIBITIONS: 

1. Parking or leaving a vehicle in violation of posted instructions on or adjacent to NFSR 826.1C beyond (east of) closure “1” as depicted on Exhibit A. 36 6 CFR § 261.58(g) 

2. Possessing or using a motor vehicle on or adjacent to NFSR 826.1C beyond (east of) closure “2” as depicted on Exhibit A. 36 6 CFR § 261.54(a) 

EXEMPTIONS: 

Pursuant to 36 CFR § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order: 

1. Any Federal, State, or local office, or member of an organized rescue or firefighting force in the performance of an official duty. 

2. Any person with a permit issued by the Forest Service specifically authorizing the otherwise prohibited act. 

3. Owners or lessees (or agents or employees thereof) of land immediately adjacent to the section of NFSR 826.1C covered by Prohibition #2 above (This Exemption applies to Prohibition #2 only). 

These restrictions are in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 C.F.R. § 261, Subpart A. 

This Order shall remain in effect from the date signed until February 1, 2027, or until rescinded, whichever occurs first. 

This Order supersedes Order No. GMUG-2017-03. Executed in Delta, Colorado this 14 -07'00' th day of January 2022.

A violation of these prohibitions is punishable as a Class B misdemeanor by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than 6 months, or both. 16 USC § 551 and 18 USC §§ 3559, 3571, 3581.
