Safety Announcement – Cottonwood Road Closure

MONTROSE, Colo. (July 2, 2025) — The Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison (GMUG) National Forests announce temporary closure of a short section of Cottonwood Road (National Forest System Road 504), from the intersection of Lockhart Road (NFSR 507) to the intersection of NFSR 504.1E, for public safety. Due to identified concerns with the structural integrity of a culvert, which could potentially lead to failure, the road will be closed beginning July 7 and will remain closed until repairs can be completed.
