Alder Creek #510

The Alder Creek Trail #510 provides access into the Mount Sneffels Wilderness, where Wilderness Regulations apply. This trail receives only light maintenance so visitors should be prepared to encounter heavy downfall and be skilled in route-finding. The trail traverses through rolling terrain along an old abandoned logging road for about half a mile. After several miles it crosses Alder Creek where one will see intermittent views of Hayden Peak, rising 12,987 feet. At about 4.2 miles the trail  joins the Dallas Trail #200, which continues  for another 5.5 miles before terminating at Forest Service Road #850. There are a few places that can be wet during the rainy season and there are 3 stream crossings that do not have bridges.
