Big Creek Cutoff #637

The Big Creek Cutoff Trail #637 is a two-track which is used as a cutoff route from the Uranium Road, FSR #404, to the Big Creek Trail #656 above Big Creek Reservoir.  This trail travels at a level grade for the entire distance through mixed open sections and ponderosa pine.  Early spring conditions can make motorized travel challenging.

SOUTHERN ACCESS:

The southern trailhead of Big Creek Cutoff Trail #637 is located off Uranium Road, FSR #404. From the northern Uncompahgre National Forest boundary travel approximately 9.0 miles south on Divide Road, FSR #402 to the junction with Uranium Road.  Turn right (west) onto Uranium Road and travel 1.2 miles to the trailhead for Big Creek Cutoff Trail #637.

NORTHERN ACCESS: 

This trail takes off to the southwest from the Big Creek Trail, on the rim just above Big Creek Reservoir.  This location may be reached by either traveling 2.1 miles southwest from the lower Big Creek Trailhead, or by traveling 1.4 miles northwest from the upper Big Creek Trailhead.
