Bittle Loop Trail #669

The Bittle Loop Trail #669 is used primarily to access dispersed campsites to the east of the Divide Forks Campground. The trail enters a small meadow and travels east/northeast making a loop around some low ridges paralleling the Smith Creek drainage. It then levels out and continues through mixed aspen and ponderosa pine. As the trail heads to the south, it parallels Smith Creek, with the Canyon visible in the east. It climbs at a moderate grade for a short distance and enters a small meadow. Then travels on the south side of a low ridge before climbing gradually through a small clearing of mixed aspen and spruce/fir. It eventually intersects with the Divide Road, FSR #402, across from the Divide Forks Campground. Although the trail is in fairly good condition, a high clearance vehicle is needed to travel its entire distance.

Directions

NORTHERN ACCESS:

Travel south on the Divide Road, FSR #402, for 8.8 miles from the Northern Forest Boundary to the Northern Bittle Loop Trailhead.

SOUTHERN ACCESS:

Travel 9 miles south on the Divide Road, FSR #402, from the Northern Forest Boundary to the Uranium Road intersection. From the Uranium Road/Divide Road intersection, continue travelling south on the Divide Road approximately 0.2 miles to the access road for the Divide Forks Campground. The Bittle Loop Southern Trailhead forks left (east) off the Divide Road directly across from the access road to the Divide Forks Campground.
