Blue Lake #637

The Blue Lake Trail #637 begins at an intersection with the Bridal Veil Trail #636 and ends at Blue Lake. The trail is steep and rugged in places. At about 0.8 miles it intersects with a trail leading to Mud Lake, so stay to the right. Along the trail is evidence of historic mining activity with tram towers and old wooden buildings with metal roofs. As the trail climbs gently toward the lake, there are several more mining buildings to the west. The area around the lake is private property, so please stay on the trail. La Junta Peak, rising 13,472 feet, and Wasatch Mountain, rising 13,555 feet, can be seen in the west. The trail comes to an end on a rocky overlook above Blue Lake. Wildflower viewing is a popular activity at Blue Lake in mid to late July.
