It continues to climb through the trees, crossing a ridgeline before traveling up a steep series of switchbacks and enters the Liberty Bell Basin after about 3.1 miles. As it enters a meadow there are specular view of Greenback Mountain, rising 12,997 feet, and Mount Emma, rising 13,581 feet. The trail then curves to the southeast and in about 0.3 miles it intersects the unsigned Sheridan Crosscut Trail.
