Long Point #628

The Long Point Trail #628 from the upper trailhead only travels as a single track trail for about 2 miles. Two miles down from the upper trailhead, the trail descends into a draw where a stock pond has been built, and then continues from this location as a two-track trail. The trail travels a majority of its distance on a bench above North Fork Escalante Creek and descends at a very gradual grade. Five miles down from the upper trailhead, the trail descends off Long Point at a steep grade towards North Fork Escalante Creek and the lower trailhead.

UPPER ACCESS:

Travel approximately 22.5 miles south on the Divide Road, FSR #402, from the Northern Forest Boundary to the Long Point Road, FSR #421 intersection. Turn left (east) onto the Long Point Road and travel 8.2 miles to the Upper Long Point Trailhead.

LOWER ACCESS:

The lower trailhead is blocked by private land (Escalante Land and Cattle Company). Travel 2.1 miles west on the Mesa ZS Road (the lower portion of the Brushy Ridge Road) from its intersection with the Montrose C37 Road (the Escalante Road). A private land access road forks left (east) off the Mesa ZS Road and runs parallel to it. The lower trailhead of the Long Point Trail is located 0.46 miles east of this intersection.
