Mesa Lake Shore #503
The Mesa Lake Shore Trail #503 is on the northwest side of the Grand Mesa and is part of the Mesa Lakes Recreational Area. Starting at the Glacier Springs Trailhead, the trail passes just below the dam, where in about 400 feet, you will intersect the Deep Creek cutoff trail #709.1. Stay left to follow the Mesa Lake Shore Trail. The trail follows the shoreline, wandering through spruce trees where, at 0.2 miles from the trailhead, it intersects the Lost Lake Trail #502. Bridges cross the water crossings and a few benches have been placed along the trail. Along the eastern shore, about 0.6 miles from the trailhead, the trail travels through a talus slope of basalt boulders. Continue around the lake until the trail reaches a parking lot. Turn left onto the Mesa Lake Picnic Area road, where there are restrooms. Follow this road through the forest for about .25 miles and return to Glacier Springs Trailhead. Fishing can be good in Mesa Lake, and dogs are welcome on a leash. Bring mosquito repellent during the summer months or after a wet spell in early fall.

Glacier Springs Trailhead:
From Grand Junction, take I-70 east to exit 49 for CO-65. Take the Grand Mesa/Collbran exit and drive Highway 65 about 25 miles to the Mesa Lakes Resort. Take the access road into the Mesa Lakes Resort to the Glacier Springs Trailhead, just past the campground.
There is a $8.00 fee for parking in the Mesa Lakes day use area.
