Owens Loop #539

The Owens Loop Trail #539 serves as a connecting route between the Owens Creek Road, FSR #268 and the Dry Owens Creek Road, FSR #268.1A. The trail for most of its distance travels around a large tract of private land in the Owens Creek drainage. The Owens Loop Trail also serves as connecting route to the Boundary Trail #525 on the east flank of Hightower Mountain.

Directions

WESTERN ACCESS:

Travel east on Highway 330 from the Plateau Creek Bridge in Collbran, approximately 14.2 miles to the intersection with  Buzzard Divide Road, FSR #265.  Turn right (south) onto the Buzzard Divide Road and travel approximately 9.6 miles to the intersection with Owens Creek Road, FSR #268, across from the Owens Creek corrals.  Turn left (northeast) onto Owens Creek Road and travel approximately 1.1 miles to the intersection with Dry Owens Creek Road, FSR #2681A.  Turn left onto the Dry Owens Creek Raod and travel approximately 0.35 miles to the Owens Loop Trailhead. 

EASTERN ACCESS:

Travel east on Highway 330 from the Plateau Creek Bridge in Collbran 14.2 miles to the intersection of Highway 330 and FDR #265, Buzzard Divide Road.  Turn right, south, onto FDR #265 and travel approximately 9.6 miles to its intersection with FDR #268, Owens Creek Road. Turn left, northeast, onto FDR #268 and travel 2.9 miles to the Owens Loop Eastern Trailhead.
