Whipple Mountain #419

The Whipple Mountain Trail #419 begins at Forest Service Road #638, Last Dollar Road, and ends at an intersection with the Deep Creek Trail #418. The trail climbs east through an aspen grove as it switchbacks and gains in elevation. After approximately 0.75 miles, the trail enters a conifer forest as it continues to climb to the Whipple Mountain saddle, raising 11,600 feet, at the Mt. Sneffels Wilderness boundary. Wilderness Regulations apply while hiking in wilderness area. It then gradually switchbacks down through a mature spruce/fir and aspen forest before dropping into a large meadow where it joins the Deep Creek Trail.
